Sunday, September 15th, 2013. Rae Lakes to Lake at 12,250

“The world is big and I want to have a good look at it before it gets dark.” --John Muir

My Favorite Lunch stop...sometimes the wait is worth it!

We woke around 7am and I tried to get some neat pictures of Fin Dome but the sun was causing shade.

I was able to get a few more pictures before we packed up camp.
Very cool reflections in the water!!

Again, we were late getting out of camp but we were trying to dry the tent before we packed up.  We were successful in drying it off before packing up but I forgot to take a single picture of camp!  So I took the spot where the tent was!

The Painted Lady and Upper Rae Lakes

Next time I request an escalator here.  We are hiking up Glen Pass and it was tough.
The steps were so high your knee would come up to your hips. But the trail was nice to hike on!

Views of the lakes on the way up Glen Pass

At Glen Pass, elevation 11,960 feet.

I think there was a bird in the left picture but who knows.  The right is a picture of Charlotte Lake.  This area is a popular weekend backpack area with Charlotte Lake and Rae Lakes.

We were hiking into Vidette Meadow now and along Bubbs Creek. I had wanted to stop for lunch & Jason was trying to find a nice spot next to some water.  I was getting very annoyed because we were hiking along a creek--how could he not find a lunch spot?  Then we ran into the Aussie's.  They were looking on the map and found the PERFECT lunch spot.  It was by far, my favorite lunch spot.

It was also the closest I got to swimming.  It was such a nice area to stop.
We were here over an hour having lunch and visiting with the Aussie's!

Back on the trail again--we were deciding where to camp for the night.  We wanted to get as close to Forester Pass as possible.  We were late in the day and most of the sights we wanted were already taken.  Since we had a late lunch that was long, we both agreed to push on to Lake 12,250.

We got to Lake 12,250 at 5:30pm with plenty of daylight left.
I thought I found the perfect camp spot!  Nice and Level!

We had to walk down to the lake for water and had a nice view of what was in store for us
tomorrow morning.  We had a day without rain and we were both really tired so it was
lights out at 8:30pm.  Too bad we didn't get a good night of sleep!
